This rock is located at an intersection, where two branches of the Quinan River come together and flow into Gillfillan Lake. Every generation before me has called it the First Landing, but I'm not sure exactly why. I have fished from this rock, I have canoed past it and camped overnight many times, we have had family gatherings here. Safe to say, it is a staple in my family’s history and holds a very special connection to me. As the painting shows, it's also a beautiful location just to watch the sun go down.
